Rory MacDonald – Wanderlust

Wanderlust is a strong desire for or impulse to wander or travel and explore the world, often desired by kids who get distracted by dreams of traveling the world. Daydreaming about foreign places and meeting new people are more as a career goal than a distraction for our next speaker.

After a year abroad on a Rotary youth exchange Rory MacDonald got hooked on the world, more specifically the many cultures and languages the world has to offer. The challenges of culture shock were hard but with passion and perseverance he understood that with challenges comes rewards, his reward was the German language and the appreciation of German culture.

He is currently learning Spanish and Dutch and learning about Germanic Cultures on his free time. His goal is to get more kids to become interested in exchange and learning cultures and languages, as well as adding more languages and world studies to our education system.
